Great news for bikers, pedestrians, sports lovers, and families in Abu Dhabi

The first phase of the emirate’s Livability Strategy will focus on the development of community facilities

Apart from being one of the safest cities in the world, Abu Dhabi has consistently won hearts with its work towards creating a community.

From innumerable places to skateboard, cycle, and play umpteen sports, there’s a lot to do for people of all ages. Taking this one step further, Abu Dhabi Media released a video recently highlighting the first phase of the emirate’s Livability Strategy.

The video showcases the focus on the development of community facilities worth AED12 billion in Abu Dhabi, Al Ain and Al Dhafra.

These include pedestrian and bicycle paths, sports facilities, health clinics, mosques, public parks and green spaces. All of it continues to be in line with the government’s vision to develop sustainable and integrated neighbourhoods.

In recent times, we’ve seen loads of community parks pop up across the emirate, including Al Masar Park in Khalifa City. Another interesting addition was Al Fay on Al Reem Island, created to replicate a forest environment.

Of course, there’s no dearth of sporting clubs in Abu Dhabi. From mini-golf holes to table tennis, and courts for badminton, basketball, volleyball and football, there’s no excuse to stay in bed anymore!

While cyclists continue to find amazing spots to get pedalling, we can’t wait for the 109km Abu Dhabi Loop, a cycle-way that promises to link key destinations around the city.

All in all, it’s shaping up to be an active time in the emirate!
