This is a new guided ‘Architectural Experience’

If you’ve ever stood beneath the breathtaking dome of Louvre Abu Dhabi, watching sunlight filter through in that signature ‘rain of light,’ here’s a reason to go back; you can now step inside it.

For the first time since opening in 2017, the museum is offering visitors rare access to its iconic dome through a new guided ‘Architectural Experience’.

This isn’t just an add-on to your visit; it’s a 90-minute journey into the story behind one of the UAE’s most recognisable landmarks, blending art, culture and engineering in a way that feels both educational and immersive.

The tours run every Saturday, with two time slots available: one for individuals in the morning and another for groups later in the day.

With a maximum of just 15 people per session, the experience feels more personal than your typical museum tour, giving you space to take it all in without the usual crowds.

The standout moment is, of course, entering the dome itself. Designed by renowned architect Jean Nouvel, the structure is a masterpiece of design and precision.

Up close, the intricate layers of geometric patterns become even more striking, working together to create the shifting light effect that has become the museum’s signature.

The design draws inspiration from traditional Emirati architecture, echoing the way sunlight filters through palm trees, only here, it’s done on a monumental scale.

Throughout the tour, visitors stop at several places around the museum, each offering insights into the creative vision, cultural meaning and technical challenges behind the project, including the complexity of building such a vast structure over water.

The dome itself spans 180 metres and appears to float above the galleries, making it as much an engineering feat as it is an artistic one.

It’s a fresh way to experience a familiar landmark, and see it from a whole new perspective.

Tickets start at AED170, and comfortable shoes are recommended (heels and open toe shoes are actually prohibited). For further information, visit louvreabudhabi.ae
