Flying can be exhausting. The airport dash, the cabin announcements, the questionable sleep and that dry, just-got-off-a-plane feeling are all part of the deal.

But Etihad Airways is trying to change that with Etihad Wellbeing, a new programme bringing together a host of upgrades designed to help you relax, sleep better and arrive feeling a little more human.

The idea is to make the journey itself feel better. That starts before you even board, with Be Relax by Etihad Spa at Zayed International Airport offering skincare, massages and hair services, while dedicated quiet areas in the lounges give you somewhere to escape the airport chaos.

Once onboard, things get even more wellness-focused. Etihad’s Quiet Cabin initiative cuts down on non-essential announcements to create a calmer atmosphere, while inflight entertainment now includes meditation, stretching and sleep-focused content.

Selected aircraft also use lighting designed to support rest and help reduce the effects of jet lag on longer journeys.

Etihad is also adding more nutritious, protein-rich and plant-forward options, alongside specialist meals including gluten-free, low-sodium, low-fat and lactose-free choices.

You can also expect hydrating vitamin and electrolyte drinks to keep you topped up at 35,000 feet.

And when it’s time to sleep, premium cabins are getting plenty of attention.

First and The Residence feature natural cotton bedding, memory foam mattresses and premium sleepwear, while First guests can also make use of ESPA skincare, facial sheet masks and eye masks.

In Business, new Destination Collection amenity kits feature products from Korean beauty brand LANEIGE, including its Water Sleeping Mask and Lip Sleeping Mask.

There’s even a new signature scent designed exclusively for Etihad, set to feature onboard and in its lounges to create a familiar, calming atmosphere.

Essentially, Etihad wants your flight to feel less like something you have to endure and more like part of the trip.

And with more wellbeing-focused upgrades in the pipeline, it looks like the airline is taking that idea seriously.
