Expect an inclusive playground, cafés and shaded green spaces
A brand-new community space is on its way to Abu Dhabi, on Yas Island.
Designed with families and the wider community in mind, Yas Community Park will combine open green spaces, inclusive play areas and a packed programme of events, creating a destination that’s about far more than just enjoying the outdoors.
The Department of Community Development (DCD) has partnered with Aldar to bring the project to life, with a focus on creating a welcoming space where residents and visitors can connect, participate and feel part of the community.
At the centre of the park will be Nabdh Yas, a dedicated community hub offering a year-round calendar of activities for families, children, young people and older residents.
From hands-on workshops and educational sessions to volunteering opportunities and community events, there will be plenty of ways for people to get involved throughout the year.
The project also breaks new ground by becoming the first community initiative of its kind in Abu Dhabi to be supported through private sector investment, with plans to roll out similar Nabdh hubs across future Aldar developments in Abu Dhabi, Al Ain and Al Dhafra.
And there’s plenty more to look forward to beyond the events programme.
The park will feature an inclusive playground where children of all abilities can enjoy playing together, alongside shaded green spaces designed for relaxing, meeting friends or spending time with family.
Visitors will also find a mosque, everyday retail outlets, cafés and community spaces that will host regular activities, workshops and neighbourhood events, helping to keep the park buzzing long after it opens.
Located between Yas Island’s residential communities and its world-famous attractions, the park is set to become a natural meeting point whether you’re popping by for an afternoon or making a day of it.
The development forms part of the wider Yas Inclusive City initiative, which is working to make Yas Island a benchmark for accessible and inclusive urban living.
More than simply adding another park to the island, the aim is to create a destination where people of all ages and backgrounds can come together and hang out every day.
