Abu Dhabi’s Yas Waterworld expansion is now open

Yas Waterworld Yas Island Abu Dhabi morning time slides

Bringing new rides, slides and family attractions to Abu Dhabi’s Yas Island

Big news if you’re planning a day out on Yas Island soon, as Yas Waterworld Abu Dhabi’s major upgrade is now open.

The brand-new expansion opened its doors on 4 April, 2026, just in time for warmer weather.

This isn’t just a small refresh either. The park is doubling down on its ‘Lost City’ theme, continuing the story of ‘The Legend of the Lost Pearl’ with a whole new set of attractions designed to bring more thrills (and a bit of chill too).

In total, you’re looking at eight new slides, two jump platforms, and a brand-new pool area, pushing the park to 70+ experiences overall.

If you’re in it for the adrenaline, there are a few rides that are already stealing the spotlight. Matamir’s Drop is the big one, and not for the faint-hearted.

It’s set to be the tallest waterslide in the UAE, starting from over 40 metres up before sending you into a full-on freefall and a seriously long ride down.

Then there’s Sahel Matamir, which mixes speed bursts with those weightless, zero-gravity moments.

If racing your friends is more your thing, Matamir Splash lets you go head-to-head on a duelling mat slide.

Other additions like Matamir Loop and Matamir Twist – Matamir Lights bring fast drops and immersive lighting into the mix, giving you something a bit different from your standard waterpark rides.

It’s not all high-speed chaos though. If you’re looking to slow things down, Sarab offers a more laid-back pool space where you can just float and relax, while Al Afda adds a bit of fun with jump platforms if you’re feeling brave enough to take the plunge.

All in all, it’s a solid upgrade that adds more variety, whether you’re chasing thrills or just want to cool off.

And with Abu Dhabi continuing to build its reputation as a go-to destination for entertainment, this latest addition to Yas Island feels right on brand.
