New surfers can focus on confidence, technique, and their very first rides at Surf Abu Dhabi

If you’ve ever thought about trying surfing but held back because it looked too expensive, April is the month to change that at Surf Abu Dhabi.
Throughout the month, free Discovery Surf Sessions are available, offering a completely redesigned way to learn how to surf without the usual frustrations of the ocean.
Instead of battling changing tides, messy waves, or confusing conditions, everything is controlled so you can focus purely on learning, improving, and enjoying your first real rides.
This experience is built around consistency and confidence. The wave environment is designed as a ‘Beach Break’ setting in a protected end bay, giving beginners plenty of space and repeated opportunities to practise the essentials: paddling, standing up, balancing, and riding clean, predictable waves.

Each session is structured to make progress feel natural. You’ll start with 15 minutes of land-based drills where coaches walk you through the fundamentals step by step. This is where everything clicks; how to position your body, how to pop up smoothly, and how to read the board beneath your feet.
Then it’s into the water for a 45-minute surf lesson using soft-top boards that are stable, forgiving, and ideal for first-timers. These boards are designed to help you stay upright longer and build confidence faster, removing the fear factor that often holds beginners back.
Coaches stay close throughout, offering guidance tailored to your level so you’re never left guessing. Instead of struggling against conditions, you’re repeatedly placed in the perfect setup to succeed, catching wave after wave until it finally feels natural.
The experience is designed to be simple: arrive an hour early, get fitted with your gear, go through a relaxed check-in, and settle into the basics before hitting the water.
This is a reimagined introduction to surfing, where everything is set up so your first wave is memorable for all the right reasons.
