The aim is to improve traffic flow during the holy month of Ramadan

The first day of Ramadan is here in the UAE and with it comes a slew of changes, from shorter working hours for both the private and public sectors to the launch of the best Iftars and Suhoors in town.

And now, Abu Dhabi Police has rolled out new traffic rules to help with the flow of traffic during the holy month of Ramadan.

Restrictions will now be in place on large vehicles, including large buses transporting workers.

Abu Dhabi Police said that large trucks, and buses that are transporting more than 50 or more workers are to be prohibited on Abu Dhabi roads during the morning and evening rush hours.

The Director of the Traffic and Patrols Directorate in the Central Operations Sector, Brigadier General Mahmoud Yousef Al Balushi said that the restrictions apply during rush hours from 8am-10am and again from 2pm- 4 pm in both Abu Dhabi and Al Ain.

To help implement the new rules, you are going to see a lot more traffic patrols on many highways across Abu Dhabi.

Traffic systems will also be activated to ensure there are no violations.
