Major update for UAE residents travelling to England

UK still remains on the UAE red list.

Passengers from the UAE travelling to England will no longer have to self-isolate on arrival in the country it has been announced.

The new measure which only applies to travellers who have received two doses of an approved COVID-19 vaccine, will come into effect from 8am (UAE time) this Friday (7 January) and will see inbound passengers required to take a day two lateral flow test.

Currently anyone entering England from outside the United Kingdom must take a PCR test by the end of the second day of their arrival and self-isolate until they receive a negative result.

The news delivered by UK Prime Minister at Westminster today (5 January) also revealed that travellers will not need a pre-departure PCR test.

However, those travelling from the UK into Abu Dhabi will have to take pre-departure PCR test and undergo further tests on day four and day eight of their stay after the country was moved onto the emirate’s red list.

The new rule which was introduced on Monday (3 January) was in response to the UK’s rocketing COVID-19 cases.

UAE citizens also must be fully vaccinated with a booster in order to leave the country.
