From tourism to municipality fees, the government has some changes in store

Planning a staycay this summer? There’s some good news in store for you!

Abu Dhabi’s Department of Culture and Tourism has introduced reduced government fees for hotels in the emirate, to be in effect very soon.

Aimed at boosting the hospitality and tourism sector, the changes will begin 1 September.

First up is the reduced tourism fee issued to guests, from 6 per cent down to 4 per cent. Furthermore there will be no municipality fee of AED 15 per night on each room reserved.

Furthermore, hotel restaurants will also get a break with the removal of the 6 per cent tourism fee and 4 per cent municipality fee.

However, the 4 per cent municipality fee applied to the value of the invoice issued to the customer will continue.

Happy staycay-tioning!
