There’s a new farmer’s market in town

Head to Al Wathba for a fun little grocery run this weekend at their newly opened Farmer’s Market.

Who doesn’t love a weekend run to your local farmer’s market? The promise of fresh produce and the added benefit of supporting agriculture in the region is a win-win situation.

And with the weather getting better, there isn’t a better time than now! The Abu Dhabi Agriculture and Food Safety Authority (ADAFSA) has now opened a Farmer’s Market in Al Wathba.

Open every weekend, the market hopes to encourage agricultural production and strengthen Abu Dhabi’s food security. On Friday, the Farmer’s Market will run from 2pm to 10pm, whilst on Saturday and Sunday, it will run from 10am to 10pm.

Launched under the directives of H.H. Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of the Presidential Court, and Chairman of the Board of Directors of ADAFSA, the market acts as a platform for farmers to sell their crops, ensuring their sustainable growth.

Managed by ADQ’s Silal, the market’s 40 stores, covering more than 15,000 square metres, enable local farmers to sell products directly to consumers within 24 hours of harvest.

ADAFSA oversees the implementation of food safety standards, ensuring that Farmer’s Market adheres to international best standards in societal market development.

The initiative will go a long way in enabling self-sufficiency in the emirate, and providing residents with access to organic, fresh produce!
