As the UAE enters into its second Year of Sustainability, there’s another big win for the UAE capital!

Abu Dhabi has been named Arab Environment Capital for 2023 by the Secretariat General of the Arab League and the Council of Arab Environment Ministers, in honour of the emirate’s achievements in environmental protection and climate action over several years led by Environment Agency – Abu Dhabi (EAD).

His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Ruler’s Representative in the Al Dhafra Region and Chairman of EAD said that this award is a result of joint efforts by governmental and private bodies in Abu Dhabi in the field of protecting the environment and preserving its natural resources.

Abu Dhabi won the competition organised by the Council of Arab Ministers Responsible for the Environment during its 34th session in Muscat.

The award submission outlined the emirate’s most prominent achievements and initiatives, including the development of green infrastructure, improvements in air and water quality, and the adoption of renewable energy and clean technology in core sectors.

The emirate also launched a range of awareness campaigns and programmes, motivating residents to take conscious measures to preserve the environment, as well as targeting students and the wider community to support sustainable projects.
