Developed by Bayanat, the flying bike was extensively trialled in Japan and is expected to roll off the production line in the Emirates
Are flying bikes finally here?
If the new XTURISMO Hoverbike demonstration is to be believed, then the future has arrived! Demonstrated at Yas Bay on Monday, the agile hoverbike is made of high-strength carbon fibre used in aviation and the space industry.
The vehicle has been developed by Bayanat, a unit of Abu Dhabi’s artificial intelligence company G42, in partnership with Japanese aerial mobility company Aerwins Technologies.
Weighing 300 kgs, the bike demonstration was attended by representatives from the Abu Dhabi Police, the Department of Culture and Tourism and the Ministry of Health on hand.

According to the engineering firm’s social media, the hoverbike weighs 300kg and can fly at 80 kph for up to 40 minutes before it needs to refuel. More importantly, it can access all hard-to-reach places and rough terrains.
With aerial technology on the rise in the UAE, this will be an additional effective tool in search and rescue operations as well as aiding disaster investigations. The hoverbike will also be able to provide geospatial mapping.
Bayanat also spoke of its commitment to bringing state-of-the-art technology to the region, positively impacting the economy and community, and making the world a safer place.
