Drop In Studio for Kids During Abu Dhabi Art

Yalla has discovered this great new activity at Abu Dhabi Art that will keep the kids entertained while they get in touch with their inner Picasso.

The Drop In Studio at Manarat Al Saadiyat has a number of drop-in activities for the 2-12 year olds and the 6-12 year olds to create this own masterpiece.

All drop in classes and workshops are inspired from artists exhibiting in Abu Dhabi Art this year.

Drop-in activities ages 3-12:
Donut Madness, making donuts out of Clay
Sunset, is water coloring and pastels
Zayed Elkhair, mixed media piece using Shaik Zayed pictures
And a communal activity about different themes from the UAE, desert, coast and Oasis

For kids age 6 to 12:
Folded illusion, papers and water colours
Colourful portrait, portrait painting
Clay leaves, making Leaves shaped clay pieces.
Organic sculpture, making sculptures inspired by organic shapes.
Geometric prints, using geometric shapes to make their own painting.

Cost is 30AED for kids 3-12 yrs.

For the More Serious Artist

The masterclass workshops are a must for the bigger kids 13+ and any adults wanting to explore and develop their art practice further. All workshops are inspired from artists exhibiting in Abu Dhabi Art this year.

It will cost 100AED for adults and teens

Masterclass with Art Studio’s Artist in Residence: Jeanne Bliss Thursday 15 November

This masterclass will allow participants to work with both 2D and 3D methods to abstractly respond to the materiality of Abu Dhabi through the city’s many different forms and shapes, as seen in its architecture. 2 hours 15 participants Adults & Teens (ages 13+)
Masterclass with Artist Sarah Alagroobi Thursday 15 November

This workshop begins with the artist presenting a multi-disciplinary art project that tackles notions of colonialism, feminism and cultural identity. Alagroobi will offer an unflinching glimpse into her experiences within a ‘western’ context through a short film. The narrative will set the tone for a critical art discussion afterwards, that will shed light on key topics in her practice and in the politics of identity more widely. 1 hour 15 participants Teens and adults (ages 13+)
Masterclass with Art Studio’s Artist in Residence: Aisha Al Balooshi Friday 16 November

Participants will create a surrealist inspired artwork whilst they learn how to design and sculpt expressive eyes using different materials and techniques. 2 hours 15 participants Adults & Teens (ages 13+)
Masterclass with Art Studio’s Artist in Residence: Ohan Balian Saturday 17 November

This masterclass allows participants to draft, design, colour, glaze and finally fire, their own ceramic tiles using underglazes inspired by the rich tradition of Armenian, Palestinian, and Iznik ceramics. 2 hours 15 participants Adults & Teens (ages 13+)
Masterclass with artist Taqwa Al Naqbi Friday 16 and Saturday 17 November

Participants will learn the art of papermaking whilst immersing themselves in the process and techniques. This masterclass will also introduce participants to various innovations in papermaking,that can be incorporated to achieve a variety of different results. 3 hours 15 participants Adults & Teens (ages 13+)

Professor and artist Holly Hughes will be providing artists with a one-on-one critical review of their works and lead a brainstorming session with them on how to progress.
