This interpretation of Sufi poet Rumi’s ‘Human Being’ is brought vividly to life through the expressive art form of Indian dance. In the spirit of its source, ‘We the Living’ envisages humans as transcultural beings that have transcended cultural systems, religions and even their weighty physical forms. Acclaimed choreographer Tanusree Shankar, one of the most important influences shaping contemporary Indian dance – channels and celebrates a universal and uniting ‘life force’ that emerges from chaos. ‘We the Living’ is a euphoric, emotional and entrancing tour de force of expressive and contemplative ideas.
