Charlie and the Chocolate Factory is heading to Abu Dhabi, so you can experience family fun like you never witnessed before
Get ready to step into a world of pure imagination as Roald Dahl’s beloved classic, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, is making its Middle East debut at Etihad Arena, Yas Island.
Taking place from 14 – 23 May 2027, it promises to be a treat for families and fans of all ages. Following a sold-out run in Shanghai last year, this immersive production brings Willy Wonka’s whimsical chocolate factory to life with dazzling stagecraft, eye-popping visuals, and plenty of magic.
From chocolate rivers and nut-sorting squirrels to mischievous Oompa-Loompas, the production transports audiences into a fantastical universe where the impossible feels completely possible.
Iconic songs from the 1971 film, like Pure Imagination, The Candy Man, and I’ve Got a Golden Ticket, mingle with original music by Grammy® and Tony Award® winners Marc Shaiman and Scott Wittman (Hairspray, Mary Poppins Returns), ensuring both nostalgia for adults and excitement for children.
“This musical has captivated generations, sparking imagination in kids while bringing back memories for adults,” says Nicolas Renna, CEO of Proactiv Entertainment.
“Bringing it to Abu Dhabi is a truly special moment, creating an unforgettable experience for families and fans young at heart,” she adds.

The production features the all-Broadway creative team behind its global success, including four-time Tony Award® winner Jack O’Brien (original direction), Joshua Bergasse (choreography), and Las Vegas illusionist Tim Clothier, who adds spectacular stage wizardry to Wonka’s factory.
From puppetry and hologauze 3D effects to stunning sets and costumes, every detail has been designed to dazzle.
With previous runs on Broadway, a North American tour, and West End acclaim, including two Olivier Awards, this production is part of a global tour that will take audiences across Asia, the Middle East, and India over the next few years.
This is your chance to explore Willy Wonka’s magical factory, sing along to timeless songs, and experience a world where imagination knows no bounds.
