NYUAD Arts Center has the keys to a night full of melody

Celebrate the 150th anniversary of composer Sergei Rachmaninoff at this recital by Ioannis Potamousis.

In honour of the 150th anniversary of composer Sergei Rachmaninoff, Ioannis Potamousis is set to present a solo piano program featuring the former’s miniature and larger compositions.

Head to NYUAD Arts Center for what promises to be a night of soulful tunes from the musical greats. He will also cover works by other composers that inspired him, including Mozart, Beethoven, Tchaikovsky, and Chopin.

For the uninitiated, Rachmaninoff is acclaimed as a composer who understood all the possibilities of the piano with legendary technical perfection. Looking beyond contemporary musical trends, he preferred to compose and perform in styles he held dear to his heart from childhood.

There couldn’t be anyone more perfect for the tribute, considering Ioannis Potamousis is often described by the Pasatiempo as the ‘New Colossus of the Keys’. Internationally acclaimed as a charismatic and passionate performer, he’s best known for his captivating artistry and introspective, poetic expression.
