Passages Noé Soulier is a transformative dance experience tailored to its surroundings, invoking personal connections to place.
The Arts Center at NYU Abu Dhabi ninth season is well underway as we head onto the spring season with The Art Center’s commissioned works travelling globally.
And on Thursday 7 March, 7pm, at The East Plaza, the performance Passages – Noé Soulier, which is presented by Dance Reflections by Van Cleef & Arpels, gets underway.
Passages transcends traditional dance performances by embracing the unique characteristics of each venue. From cloisters to courtyards, its choreography adapts to the architectural tapestry, weaving movement and space into a harmonious narrative.

Renowned choreographer Noé Soulier’s decade-long exploration of bodily expression forms the foundation of Passages.
Through actions like grabbing and throwing, he delves into the primal kinship between humans and animals, evoking a visceral response from the audience.
Soulier’s choreographic vision defies abstraction, infusing practical actions with emotional resonance.
Each movement, distorted from its original purpose, carries a profound affective charge, blurring the lines between formality and narrative.
Passages navigates this liminal space, inviting viewers to immerse themselves in its non-narrative expressiveness.
At its core, Passages is a journey through the intimate connections between body, space, and memory. It invites audiences to reflect on their own relationships with the places they inhabit, resonating with the echoes of past experiences and emotions.
