Fans will be able to meet and greet former NBA stars
As Etihad Arena is set to welcome NBAs Minnesota Timberwolves and Dallas Mavericks at the beginning of October for two pre-season games basketball fans in the region will be delighted to note that an expanded series of events has also been announced.
An ‘NBA Fan Appreciation Day in Abu Dhabi’ will take place in Etihad Arena today at 4.30pm featuring a host of former NBA players of esteem. On top of appearances from Mavericks and Timberwolves players, 19-time NBA All-Star and six-time NBA champion Kareem Abdul-Jabbar and two-time NBA champion Kenny Smith will also be present.
And that’s just the beginning! If the line-up wasn’t great enough, it’s none other than Florida hitmaker T-Pain who will be bringing his terrific tunes to Etihad Arena. The six-time GRAMMY award winner will perform at his first NBA Fan Appreciation Day in Abu Dhabi.
Adding to the starry line-up is none other than the massive Michael B. Jordan! A first at the UAE capital’s event, it’s a massive opportunity for fans to get up and close with the star.

For those who prefer to watch the action, there will be skills games taking place with a slam dunk competition and a three-point contest featuring not only current members of both teams but also the team mascots too!
A further fun-filled three days will be taking place at Manarat Al Saadiyat from 5-8 October where fans will be able to meet and greet five-time NBA All-Star Tim Hardaway Sr., and nine-time NBA All-Star and NBA champion Gary Payton. The event ‘NBA District’ welcomed almost 10,000 fans last year and is set to be another big hit in October.
