A masterclass from the best at CNN is what journalist dreams are made of. And now, it’s coming true just in time for COP28 right here in Abu Dhabi.
CNN Academy Abu Dhabi is all set to host a storytelling training programme at Yas Creative Hub this December, focusing on all the minutiae of being a great journalist.

Having recently welcomed its third cohort of students on 22 September, the programme led with a climate reporting masterclass from Chief Climate Correspondent, Bill Weir moderated by Becky Anderson, Managing Editor, CNN Abu Dhabi, and Anchor.
The interactive session, hosted at the Yas Creative Hub, explored how to engage audiences, the importance of science, informing people about solutions to environmental challenges, and looking ahead to COP 28. It marked the beginning of a 12-week journalism training course, which will have an emphasis on climate storytelling and provide unrivalled access to experts from the world’s leading news organisation.
It will culminate in the second annual CNN Academy Newsroom Simulation. Running from 3-10 December, the workshop will cover ethics in journalism and a simulation that focuses on climate storytelling, running alongside COP28 UAE.

Across seven days participants will attend talks and workshops at the COP28 venue and crucially learn from top CNN journalists what it takes to effectively engage audiences about one of the world’s most pressing issues.
Following that, participants will then be given a chance to put theory into practice, taking part in an intensive, competitive challenge to investigate and report on an unfolding climate disaster in a fictional country.
From fact checking to newsroom roles, breaking news workflows to deadline management; the course is perfect for anyone looking to break into the world of news.
