SHARJAH CHILDREN’S READING FESTIVAL: Pakistani child star Ahmad Shah to take the stage

The festival is a continuation of Sharjah’s efforts to raise awareness among the younger generations about the importance of reading

Leading publishers, authors, poets, illustrators and creatives are set to gather in the next few days at the much awaited 14th annual edition of the highly anticipated Sharjah Children’s Reading Festival (SCRF).

The event will take placed from 3 to 14 May at Expo Centre Sharjah.

And there’s going to be lots going on and one show not to be missed is the highly acclaimed Hinglish comedy production directed by Dr. M. Sayeed Alam, Akbar The Great Nahi Rahe (Akbar is no more ‘The Great’), which is heading to the UAE stage at the 14th Sharjah Children’s Reading Festival.

According to Gulf News, the Bazm-e-Urdu production will star young protagonists – Pakistani child star, Ahmad Shah and his brother, Abu Bakr Shah, led by the Pierrot’s Troupe from India, which has been especially crafted with young audiences in mind.

 

 

Tickets for the 90-minute show are now on sale and can be bought online or the Expo Centre itself.

The annual SCRF aims to promote knowledge and character development among young people while also providing a platform for industry professionals to share ideas and expertise to shape the future of the sector.

Ahmed bin Rakkad Al Ameri, Chairman of the Sharjah Book Authority , noted that the festival embodies the vision of HH Dr Sheikh Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, and the directives of HH Sheikha Jawaher bint Mohammed Al Qasimi, wife of the Ruler of Sharjah and Chairperson of the Supreme Council for Family Affairs (SCFA), to invest in the younger generations and equip them with knowledge and skill sets they will need to lead the nation.

“The festival is a continuation of Sharjah’s efforts to raise awareness among the younger generations about the importance of reading, and also connect them with the right opportunities to discover their talents through SCRF’s diverse programming agenda,” Ahmed bin Rakkad Al Ameri said.

Khoula Al Mujaini, General Coordinator of SCRF, said that the upcoming edition will continue to promote the development of children’s literature.

She also revealed that the 14th edition will feature a packed agenda of events, shows and workshops to allow children and youth to freely explore their creative side and apply their talents.
