Students across the UAE are set for a phased return to in-person learning, with nurseries beginning to reopen this week and a wider decision on schools expected imminently, authorities have confirmed.
The update was issued by the Education, Human Resources and Community Development Council via the UAE Government Media Office, outlining a carefully managed, step-by-step resumption of education services following weeks of remote learning.
Nurseries first in phased reopening
Nurseries will be the first education sector to see a return to on-site learning, with facilities located in government premises and commercial buildings reopening in the initial phase.
Other nurseries that are not included in this stage will continue operating through alternative arrangements, including home-based childcare services delivered by nursery teachers, in line with approved guidelines and procedures.
Parents across the country have already begun contacting nurseries for confirmation, as families prepare for the gradual return of children to early learning environments.
Schools await Wednesday announcement
A separate decision regarding in-person learning for schools and the wider education sector will be announced on Wednesday, 15 April, through official Ministry of Education channels.
Until then, distance learning remains in place across public and private schools, with current arrangements set to continue until at least 17 April, pending further review.
Authorities have stressed that updates will continue to be communicated through official channels only, following a structured weekly reassessment of the situation.
Safety checks and readiness underway
As part of the reopening process, inspections are being carried out across educational institutions to ensure full readiness for the return to classrooms.
The council has also confirmed that comprehensive support programmes are being developed, including safety and security protocols, evacuation planning, and enhanced training for staff in handling emergency situations.
Additional psychological and professional support will be provided to education staff to help ensure a smooth transition back to in-person learning.
Flexible approach to learning continues
Officials said new guidelines are also being prepared to support flexible transitions between in-person and remote learning, ensuring continuity of education if circumstances require further adjustments.
Local education authorities across each emirate will issue implementation circulars, aligning national direction with locally coordinated execution.
The phased approach reflects what officials describe as a structured and safety-focused return to normal schooling operations, with further updates expected in the coming days.
