How schools were assessed
Inspection ratings matter, but they are not the whole story.
Alongside outcomes and inspection frameworks, we looked closely at the lived experience of school: leadership, pastoral care, culture and community, wellbeing and inclusion, and how children feel each day, not only how they perform on paper.
We assessed schools using a balanced, evidence-led framework, including:
- Academic outcomes and progress
- Inspection outcomes
- Quality and breadth of extracurricular and co-curricular opportunities
- Facilities and learning environment
- Wellbeing, safeguarding and inclusion
- Leadership and school culture
- Future-focused learning, including digital and AI readiness
