The new AED 50 million injection will elevate the cultural and historical industry in Abu Dhabi

The historical and cultural industry in Abu Dhabi received a major boost this week when it was announced that The Department of Culture and Tourism – Abu Dhabi (DCT Abu Dhabi) and Mubadala Foundation signed an agreement including AED 50 million to go towards various projects in the region.

The Mubadala Foundation are providing this substantial sum of money over the next five years in a move which will certainly benefit the new proposed cultural and historical district on Saadiyat Island.

Projects which are set to be included are The Louvre Abu Dhabi and the new, highly anticipated Zayed National Museum. The new investment will hopefully elevate Abu Dhabi’s reputation as a thriving hub for tourism and add to the many different attractions already available in the region.

Scheduled to open in 2025, District, Zayed National Museum celebrates the rich history, culture and stories of the UAE and the timeless values of the country’s founder, the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan.

While The Louvre Abu Dhabi has been open for a number of years and invites visitors to come and explore the many different exhibitions, galleries and other activities and experiences they have on offer there.

In relation to the new agreement, Saood Abdulaziz Al Hosani, Under-Secretary of DCT Abu Dhabi, said, “At DCT Abu Dhabi, we have cultivated compelling partnerships that are central to community development and fuel economic progress that aid Abu Dhabi’s wider global ambitions.”
