Manar Abu Dhabi unveils second series of works

Located on Al Samaliyah and Al Jubail islands breathtaking light art installations will be revealed by Manar Abu Dhabi

You’d have to be living under a rock not to notice the skies over Abu Dhabi become illuminated with some stunning light and art installations in the last few weeks.

The drone lighting show over Louvre Abu Dhabi and the amazing tour of Lulu Island are two which have captured the imagination of the public, and now more exciting locations are set to be revealed.

Manar Abu Dhabi continues with the unveiling of a second series of works on Al Samaliyah and Al Jubail islands from 21 December 2023, with breathtaking light art installations by Alaa Edris, Ayman Zedani, Mohammed Kazem, Rain Wu and teamLab.

The popular exhibition runs until 30 January 2024 with new site-specific commissions, light sculptures, projections, and immersive artworks installed across key locations in the city including Corniche Road and Beach, the Eastern Mangroves, Fahid Island, Jubail Mangrove Park, Lulu Island, Saadiyat Island and Al Samaliyah Island.

Abu Dhabi’s Al Samaliyah Island will be illuminated by a number of works, including several installations by globally renowned international art collective teamLab. This immersive experience will transform the mangrove island into a dynamic art space, where light and environment interact in a symphony of colors and sounds.

At Jubail Mangrove Park on nearby Al Jubail Island, Rain Wu captivates the viewers in One with the Soil, One with the Cloud, where the artist uses a constellation of lights to portray the life cycle of mangrove trees, highlighting the transient nature of existence and offering a distinct aerial perspective on the living world.

Finally, celebrating a new cultural district in the making with Rise, Alaa Edris reimagines Saadiyat Island against the backdrop of the upcoming Guggenheim Abu Dhabi Museum, offering a fresh outlook on this evolving iconic location.

These new additions to the larger Manar Abu Dhabi inaugural edition are part of more than 35 site-specific art commissions by over 20 local, regional, and international artists.
