Etihad Rail

It’s everything we wanted and more

We finally have a first glimpse at what travelling via train in the UAE is going to look like!

Ever since the Etihad Rail construction finished, the entire country has benefited from an elevated freight transport system. The track has been operational for sometime now, with newer routes being added and elevated.

While we wait for the passenger services to become operational, there’s a sneak peek into what we can hope to see, thanks to Al Emarat TV!

The team became one of the first to ride the stunning Etihad Rail (with UAE royalty on board of course). The train is designed to shorten travel time between Dubai and Abu Dhabi by at least 50 minutes if not more! The project is part of a vision to extend beyond the UAE’s borders and into the rest of the GCC.

A massive undertaking, the Etihad Rail track included the construction of nine tunnels through the mountains at a cumulative length of 6.9km, with a whopping 54 bridges and 20 animal crossings added.

Etihad Rail’s 1,200km network extends across the country, from the border of Saudi Arabia to the border of Oman.

Once passengers can travel, it’ll be a breeze getting through 11 cities and regions across the UAE.
