WATCH: Sultan AlNeyadi on Ramadan in space

Can you imagine spending the Holy Month out of Earth? AlNeyadi documents some brilliant views from up there

Another message from space!

Sultan AlNeyadi, UAE’s favourite astronaut, has shared yet another video from space, this time delighting Earth residents with a glimpse of Ramadan in space.

In the remarkable video, he captures the beauty of the sun setting and the Ramadan crescent.

In the video, which lasts for three minutes, AlNeyadi expresses his gratitude for the opportunity to observe the holy month of Ramadan from the International Space Station (ISS).

It’s also extremely interesting to see that as the sun sets on one side of the ISS, it is already pitch dark on the other.

The sunset takes place for only 10 seconds, but the sky looks similar to the Northern Lights that we see on Earth. AlNeyadi describes how the sunset will make the sky change colour into a beautiful gold followed by red for just 10 seconds. He also shares that he is prohibited from looking directly at the sun as it may cause his eyes harm.

As the stars begin to appear after the deep red sunset, AlNeyadi zooms into the crescent and shows viewers the Ramadan crescent from space. He also points out the shining dot next to the crescent moon, which is believed to be Saturn.

AlNeyadi ends the video on a positive note, saying that there is no better place than the ISS to see Hilal Ramadan. This video is truly a sight to behold and a testament to the wonders of our universe.
