Routes around Cranleigh Abu Dhabi, Manarat Al Saadiyat and Berklee Abu Dhabi will be affected
If you’re planning a trip to Saadiyat Island over the coming weeks – whether it’s for work, a museum visit, a concert or simply a beach day – you’ll want to allow extra travel time.
Temporary road closures are currently in place across parts of the island as infrastructure works continue, with traffic restrictions expected to remain until Sunday, 9 August.
The closures affect several key roads around some of Saadiyat’s busiest destinations, so it’s worth checking your route before setting off.
Motorists travelling near Cranleigh Abu Dhabi, Manarat Al Saadiyat and Berklee Abu Dhabi should expect diversions and possible delays.
Restrictions are also in place around sections of Jacques Chirac Street and Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Street, two of the island’s main routes.
With Saadiyat continuing to welcome thousands of visitors each week to its beaches, cultural attractions and restaurants, the closures could have an impact, particularly during weekends and evening events.
If you’re heading to attractions such as Louvre Abu Dhabi, Saadiyat Beach, Soul Beach, Mamsha Al Saadiyat, teamLab Phenomena Abu Dhabi or the growing Saadiyat Cultural District, it’s a good idea to leave earlier than usual and factor in additional journey time.
Using your preferred navigation app before you leave is recommended, as live traffic updates should reflect the latest diversions and any congestion around the affected roads.
The works began on Saturday, 4 July and are scheduled to continue until Sunday, 9 August, although timings could change depending on construction progress.
For now, the best advice is simple: if Saadiyat Island is on your itinerary over the next few weeks, plan ahead, leave a little earlier than normal and check your route before you set off.
It could save you a lengthy delay and help ensure you arrive in plenty of time, whether you’re heading for the beach, a museum, a performance or your morning commute.
