Free parking will start on Thursday until the the last day of Eid
Driving around Abu Dhabi to celebrate the long holiday will be less of a headache for motorists with the emirate announcing free parking during Eid al-Fitr.
Mawaqif parking fees will be waived throughout the Eid festival starting on Thursday, April 20, according to the Integrated Transport Centre (ITC) of the Department of Municipalities and Transport in Abu Dhabi.
The UAE has announced Eid holidays from Thursday until Shawwal 3 for both the public and private sectors. It is the UAE’s Moon-sighting committee that will decide the exact date of the first day of Shawwal, but Abu Dhabi’s International Astronomy Centre (IAC) has predicted Shawwal 1 to fall on Saturday, which could mean a five-day weekend.
Parking at the Musaffah M-18 truck parking lot and the Darb toll gate system will also be free during the Eid holiday. Toll gate fees will be reactivated after the Eid holiday, during peak hours from 7am to 9am and from 5pm to 7pm to ensure a smooth traffic flow.
The ITC has urged drivers to avoid parking in prohibited areas, including residential parking spaces from 9pm to 8am.

Abu Dhabi Express and the “Abu Dhabi Link” bus services will operate from 6am to 11pm during the holiday in the UAE.
ITC’s customer centres will be closed during the holiday, but ITC services will remain available online on its website, Darbi and Darb websites and apps, and through the “TAMM” platform.
