EID AL-FITR 2024: UAE announces week-long break for private sector

Eid Al Fitr announcement for UAE public holiday

The UAE government has confirmed a nine-day break for Eid Al Fitr 2024

It’s official!

The Eid al-Fitr holiday for both UAE federal government and private sector employees will begin on 8 April 2024 and continue all week until 14 April, Sunday. Including both weekends on either end means a nine-day break, effectively the longest public holiday of the year so far!

Of course, the first day of Shawwal will be decided by the UAE’s moon sighting committee.

A long break means more chances to explore some of the best brunches in Abu Dhabi, catch the mesmerising fireworks, or even have an impromptu getaway with some great Eid deals! From cooking up the perfect gourmet Eid meal courtesy recipes from the best chefs in Abu Dhabi to road trips, quick getaways and more, there’s no dearth of amazing ways to spend the Eid break.
