Last-mile connectivity allows commuters to request a bus pick-up at their desired location and time
A relatively new transport service that is helping commuters make getting around Abu Dhabi a breeze is now available to commuters in Khalifa City.
Abu Dhabi’s Bus on Demand service provides last-mile connectivity that allows commuters to request a bus pick-up at their desired location and time. The new service aims to encourage more people to use public transport within their communities, especially those who live further away from a bus station.
Commuters can book a ride using the “Abu Dhabi Link” smart application, which can be downloaded through the Apple Store or Google Play.
Riders only need to specify their location and target destination when booking a ride. The app will then show the location of the nearest bus, as well as the bus type and plate number.
The Bus on Demand service takes commuters to the nearest bus station and any other public transport facility, as well as any other destination within the area where the bus operates.
The Bus on Demand service at Khalifa City will operate from 6am to 11pm throughout the week, and will be distributed across different areas in Khalifa City, according to the Integrated Transport Centre (ITC) of Abu Dhabi’s Department of Municipalities and Transport (DMT).

The buses are equipped with an automated payment system that accepts the Hafilat Smart Card.
The Bus on Demand was first launched at Al Shahama City in late 2020, and was later introduced to Yas Island and Saadiyat Island.
The service has completed 587,000 passenger trips since it was launched, with 51,300 people using the Abu Dhabi Link app.
Public transport offers a unique and convenient way to navigate the city. Abu Dhabi’s taxi fleet is another convenient mode of transport, with commuters now having access to brand new Tesla taxis.
