Trail X
If extreme cycling is your thing, then Trail X is the place for you. Push yourself to the limit with this mountain biking, or off-road bicycle racing, sport facility that is set on rough terrain mimicking mountain, desert, and rocks. Trail X is the one and only mountain bike trail in Abu Dhabi and boasts four difficulty levels that are colour coded: Green, Blue, Red, and Black. Get riding now!
Cycling Track
Hudayriyat Mar Vista is the perfect place to get some exercise and it offers five to ten kilometres of cycling tracks for new and avid riders to make the most of. You can take it easy and relax and you take in the picturesque views of the local recreational park, or you can test yourself out on the primary cycle network which offers north-south and east-west connections along major road paths and green spaces. Earlier in the year Abu Dhabi revealed huge plans for Hudayriyat Island, transforming a major part of it into a leading residential and leisure attraction to add to the wonderful facilities already located there.
Overseen by developer Modon Properties the new mega project is expected to span more than 51 million square metres, which is more than 50 per cent of the island.
It will include new residential communities, a brand new waterfront and an opportunity to take in panoramic views of Abu Dhabi city and the Arabian Gulf.
The new development also boasts over 50km of coastline including over 15km of delightful beaches, which is hoped will drive even more tourism into the area. This will be complemented by some new state-of-the-art sporting facilities.
Velodrome Abu Dhabi
In keeping with the overall cycling theme on the island, Velodrome Abu Dhabi is scheduled to open to the public at some stage in 2025 and will boast the region’s first Union Cycliste Internationale (UCI) category one indoor cycling track.
That’s not all however as the amazing facility will also feature a rooftop track, linked to the ground via a 600-metre cycling ramp, giving you a 360-degree views of Hudayriyat and the Abu Dhabi skyline.
There will be many other facilities available on the island as well including an obstacle course, a bike park, a jogging track while opportunities to play basketball, badminton and tennis with your friends will also be available.
Surf Abu Dhabi
One of the most recent exciting additions to Al Hudrayiyat Island is Surf Abu Dhabi, reportedly the biggest and most advanced artificial wave facility in the world. Designed in partnership with Kelly Slater Wave Co., the landmark destination offers a high-performance surfing experience and a lot of firsts for the emirate and the world. You can get the adrenaline going on the world’s longest ride, biggest barrel, and most excitingly, the largest man-made wave pool.
