There will be temporary lane restrictions on Al Khaleej Al Arabi Street
Motorists in Abu Dhabi are being advised to plan ahead this weekend following a temporary partial road closure announced by Abu Dhabi Mobility.
According to the authority, the left lane of Al Khaleej Al Arabi Street (E20) heading towards Abu Dhabi will be temporarily closed from Friday, 8 May, until Monday, 11 May.
The affected stretch is located near several major landmarks, including Zayed University and Zayed Cricket Stadium, areas that typically experience heavy traffic flow throughout the day.

Authorities have not yet confirmed the exact reason for the closure, but drivers travelling through the area are encouraged to allow additional travel time and consider alternative routes where possible, particularly during peak commuting hours.
Traffic congestion is expected around the affected section as lane access narrows over the weekend.
The advisory comes as Abu Dhabi continues to experience increased traffic movement linked to major events and ongoing infrastructure activity across the emirate.
Unified GCC Traffic Week
Meanwhile, a new nationwide road safety awareness campaign titled “Cross Safely” has officially launched this week across the UAE as part of the Unified GCC Traffic Week initiative.
Organised by Ministry of Interior in collaboration with transport authorities and police departments across the country, the campaign aims to encourage safer road behaviour among both drivers and pedestrians.
Running for three months, the initiative focuses on promoting the use of designated crossings, bridges, and underpasses while reinforcing the importance of following traffic regulations.
Interactive events, smart technologies, and awareness activities are taking place across all emirates throughout the week.
