Guggenheim Abu Dhabi may not officially open its doors until 11 December, but you don’t have to wait until then to get involved.
Throughout September, the soon-to-open museum is taking its ideas out into the UAE with a series of talks, workshops, interactive experiences and creative events, giving the public a taste of what’s to come.
From stepping into a phone booth and answering thought-provoking questions to exploring the connection between Islamic and contemporary art, there’s plenty happening across Abu Dhabi this month.
Network of Answers
25 September to 22 October, Manarat Al Saadiyat
Ever wondered what Abu Dhabi means to the people who live here?
Network of Answers, an interactive artwork by Guggenheim Abu Dhabi-commissioned artist Agatha Gothe-Snape, is inviting you to share your thoughts.
The project uses a phone booth installation to ask visitors a series of questions, collecting personal memories, reflections, and perspectives to create a collective archive of voices from Abu Dhabi.
No registration is needed, so you can simply drop by Manarat Al Saadiyat and get involved.

Art Appears: Chant Avedissian

Fancy getting a little more creative?
Guggenheim Abu Dhabi is celebrating the life and work of Egyptian-Armenian artist Chant Avedissian with three days of talks, workshops and interactive activities.
Avedissian is part of the Guggenheim Abu Dhabi Collection and is known for reimagining Egypt’s cultural icons, history and collective memory through his distinctive visual style.
The pop-up will explore the influences behind his work, his artistic legacy and the ideas that continue to make his practice so interesting.

Abstractions: A Journey Between Islamic and Contemporary Art
29 September, 6pm, Louvre Abu Dhabi
The month wraps up with a conversation exploring how Islamic and contemporary art can meet through abstraction.
Artist Rachid Koraïchi will join curator Abdelkader Damani at Louvre Abu Dhabi to discuss everything from calligraphy and geometry to contemporary artistic practice.
The idea is to look at how artists across different cultures and generations have used abstraction as a shared visual language – and how those connections continue to influence art today.

If these events are anything to go by, Guggenheim Abu Dhabi is planning plenty to keep culture fans busy before the big opening.
More talks, activations and outreach events will be announced across the UAE in the run-up to 11 December, giving the community more chances to meet artists, explore new ideas and get a feel for the museum before it officially opens.
