Here’s what you need to know about the temporary road closure

If you’re planning a late-night drive into Abu Dhabi over the next few days, you may want to check your route before setting off.

Abu Dhabi Mobility has announced a temporary closure on E22 Abu Dhabi-Al Ain Road, with the affected section heading towards Abu Dhabi city.

The closure will be in place for three nights, starting Wednesday, 19 August.

Drivers can expect the road to be closed during the following hours:

Wednesday, 19 August: Midnight to 6am

Thursday, 20 August: Midnight to 6am

Friday, 21 August: Midnight to 6am

So, if you’re travelling during the daytime, you shouldn’t be affected. The restrictions are specifically for the overnight period between 12am and 6am.

If you’re heading towards Abu Dhabi during the closure hours, allow some extra time for your journey and check your route before you leave. Alternative roads may be busier than usual while the closure is in place.

Abu Dhabi Mobility has also shared a map showing the affected area, so it’s worth taking a look if you regularly use E22 for your commute or late-night trips.

The closure is only scheduled for three nights, meaning normal access is expected outside the stated hours.

Abu Dhabi Mobility is responsible for managing land transport in the emirate, as well as areas including driver and vehicle licensing.

In short: if E22 is part of your usual route into Abu Dhabi, remember midnight to 6am on 19, 20 and 21 August and plan ahead.
