Guggenheim Abu Dhabi is inviting you to join its eight-week programme
Fancy swapping your screen time for some hands-on creativity?
Guggenheim Abu Dhabi is giving young creatives the chance to get stuck into woodworking with a free eight-week programme designed for anyone aged 18 to 25.
Part of the Contemporary Makers Cohort 3, the programme will take place at MAKE, Abu Dhabi, and is aimed at budding creatives who want to learn new skills, experiment with ideas and make something they can actually take from concept to completion.
And the best part is you don’t need any previous woodworking experience.
The programme kicks off with a Woodworking Fundamentals workshop from 9 to 13 September to 13, giving participants an introduction to the basics before the regular sessions get underway.
After that, participants will meet every Thursday from 24 September to 12 November for weekly hands-on workshops.
Over the eight-week programme, you’ll get the opportunity to learn practical woodworking techniques while developing your own creative project.
So, rather than simply watching someone else demonstrate how it’s done, you’ll be encouraged to get involved, experiment and build something yourself.
You’ll also receive guidance and mentorship from artists and cultural professionals, giving you the chance to learn from people working in the creative world and pick up advice along the way.

Whether you’re already interested in making things or have simply always fancied trying your hand at woodworking, the programme is designed to welcome beginners.
You don’t need to arrive knowing your chisels from your clamps, just bring your curiosity, creativity and a willingness to learn.

The programme will finish with a public showcase, giving participants the chance to display what they’ve created and celebrate their creative journey with the wider community.
How to apply
There are a few important dates to keep in mind. Applications close on 16 August, 2026, so you’ll need to get your application in soon.
The programme is free, but places are aimed at Abu Dhabi-based creatives aged 18 to 25.
If you’re ready to try something different, learn a new practical skill and spend eight weeks making rather than just scrolling, this could be a great opportunity to get involved.
