Drivers travelling near Zayed University or heading towards Khalifa City and Zayed City should expect delays

If you’re planning to drive around Al Khaleej Al Arabi Street (E20) over the next few weeks, it’s worth giving yourself a little extra time.

A partial road closure is in place on Al Khaleej Al Arabi Street (E20) from Sunday, 12 July, until Saturday, 15 August, meaning motorists can expect changes to traffic flow and possible delays, particularly during the morning and evening rush hours.

The affected stretch is close to Zayed University, one of the capital’s busiest education hubs, so commuters travelling to and from the campus may notice heavier traffic than usual.

The route is also a key link for drivers travelling between central Abu Dhabi and Khalifa City and Zayed City, making it a busy corridor for residents, school traffic and daily commuters.

While access to these areas will remain available, lane reductions and traffic management measures could slow journeys, especially at peak times.

If this route is part of your daily commute, it’s a good idea to:

  • Leave home a little earlier than usual.
  • Check your preferred navigation app before setting off for the latest traffic conditions.
  • Consider alternative routes if you’re travelling during peak periods.
  • Allow extra time if you’re heading to Zayed University or have appointments in Khalifa City or Zayed City.

Roadworks are a normal part of maintaining and improving Abu Dhabi’s transport network, but they can have a knock-on effect on surrounding roads.

A little planning before you set off could help you avoid unnecessary delays and make your journey a smoother one over the coming weeks.
