The upcoming games highlight the UAE’s continued commitment to inclusion

Big things are on the horizon this June as Special Olympics UAE gears up for the UAE Games 2026, and it’s shaping up to be one of the most inclusive and wide-reaching editions yet.

Bringing together more than 1,000 participants from across the country, the event will see athletes, students of determination, unified partners, coaches, and support teams all taking part in a celebration of sport, community, and accessibility.

The action kicks off in Dubai with Artistic and Rhythmic Gymnastics hosted in collaboration with Wellfit Gymnastics Academy at Circle Mall, before moving to ADNEC Abu Dhabi and Zayed Sports City for the rest of the competitions.

From there, the energy builds, with a packed schedule covering everything from basketball and badminton to powerlifting, bocce, and bowling. There’s even a Motor Activity Training Programme, ensuring opportunities for athletes of all ability levels.

This year also adds an international twist, with teams from Special Olympics Morocco and Special Olympics Malta joining the lineup, bringing a global sense of camaraderie to an already powerful national event.

A wide network of partners, from sports councils and federations to major organisations like Aldar Properties and ADNOC, are helping bring the games to life, highlighting just how much collaboration goes into making an event like this possible.

Beyond the competitions, there’s a strong focus on building long-term impact. A dedicated Partners Platform Day will connect organisations, celebrate contributions, and strengthen future collaborations, while initiatives like the Young Athletes Program, Fit 5, esports activities, and Games of the Future add even more depth to the experience.

There’s also meaningful recognition built into the schedule, including the Golisano Health Leadership Awards, which spotlight organisations making real strides in improving access to health and wellness for People of Determination.

Following the success of the 2024 edition, which welcomed over 600 athletes and thousands of volunteer hours, the UAE Games 2026 are set to go even bigger.

With more sports, more participants, and more community involvement, it’s another step forward in building a more inclusive sporting landscape across the UAE.
