Looking after the planet never tasted so good
Sustainability is set to be at the heart of Taste of Abu Dhabi this weekend as the National Food Loss and Waste Initiative ne’ma teams up with the festival again.
As the festival’s official Food Waste Reduction Partner for 2025, ne’ma is turning delicious dining into a movement for mindful consumption.
After last year’s success, where the collaboration diverted 310 kg of food waste from landfill, prevented 787 kg of CO₂e emissions, and produced 62 kg of compost, the 2025 edition is raising the bar even higher.
With more than 19,000 food lovers expected at Gateway Park North, Yas Island from 14–16 November, Taste of Abu Dhabi will once again be a celebration of flavour, fun, and conscious living.
This year, ne’ma will work closely with chefs, restaurants, and vendors throughout the three-day festival to make sure nothing delicious goes to waste.
Visitors can also learn easy, practical ways to cut food waste at home, because small changes add up to a big impact.
As the national custodian for reducing food loss and waste, ne’ma is partnering with UAE-based start-up ReLoop by Ecyclex to compost all food and organic waste generated during the event.

This nutrient-rich compost will go on to nourish local farms, a full-circle story that keeps food out of landfills and gives it a new life.
This initiative builds on the success of ne’ma’s Climate-Conscious UAE Zero Food Waste Event Guide, launched in 2024.
The guide is designed to help event organisers plan greener, more sustainable gatherings and has already been used at major events including the Al Hosn Festival and the IUCN World Conservation Congress.
“Supporting Taste of Abu Dhabi for a second year is about consistency, scale, and measurable impact,” said Khuloud Hasan Al Nuwais, Chief Sustainability Officer of Emirates Foundation and ne’ma Steering Committee Secretary-General.
Victoria Burn, Event Director of Taste of Abu Dhabi, added: “We’re thrilled to have ne’ma back with us. Taste is all about celebrating the best of food and lifestyle, and that includes sustainability.”
