etihad new destination zanzibar

We’re planning our next vacation already

Etihad Airways has been spoiling us with new routes to all the places we have on our bucket list and the latest? The stunning Zanzibar.

While the flight isn’t new, the route hasn’t been active and will resume next year, from 14 June.

It will run until 6 September, with four weekly flights between the UAE capital and the Indian Ocean island.

Flights will leave Abu Dhabi on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays at 9.10am, arriving at 1.50pm in Zanzibar.

Return flights from the island will depart at 5.50pm, arriving the next day in Abu Dhabi at 12.30am.

If you’re not familiar with the idyllic destination, Zanzibar is part of Tanzania’s beautiful archipelago, celebrated for its UNESCO-listed Stone Town, spice plantations and stunning beaches.

You can dive to see coral reefs, explore centuries-old alleyways, or use it as a gateway to one of East Africa’s iconic safari destinations, like Serengeti or Kilimanjaro.

This becomes Etihad’s 30th destination announced in 2025, following the likes of Palma de Mallorca and Damascus

Speaking about the new route, Antonoaldo Neves, Chief Executive Officer of Etihad Airways said: “Zanzibar is the perfect summer escape and we are thrilled to welcome it back to our growing network. From world-famous beaches and spice markets to rich history and culture, Zanzibar has something for everyone. We know it’s a destination our guests have been eager to see return, and we can’t wait to connect them to this unique island paradise.”

Flights start from 14 June 2026. For more information, visit Etihad Airways official website
