Learn all about Abu Dhabi’s new report card plaques for parents
Heads up, parents! There’s a new school initiative on the horizon that’s about to make your school visits a whole lot more informative.
The Abu Dhabi Department of Education and Knowledge (ADEK) is rolling out something brand new: School Performance Plaques; and they’re set to be displayed at every private school across the emirate very soon.
These plaques are part of a push to make school quality more transparent and help parents feel confident about their choices.
So, what are these plaques all about?
Think of them like a school’s official “elevator pitch”; only instead of hearing it from the principal, you’ll be able to see it for yourself, right when you walk in.
Each plaque will feature two key ratings:
Irtiqa’a Rating – ADEK’s comprehensive school inspection score, which looks at everything from student progress and teaching quality to wellbeing and leadership.
National Identity Mark – A newer measure showing how well a school promotes UAE heritage, values, and citizenship within its day-to-day learning.

Later on, ADEK plans to add a third indicator: the Wellbeing Mark, which will highlight how schools support students’ (and teachers’) emotional, social, and physical wellbeing.
What this means for you
Once these plaques are up, they’ll be a helpful guide during school tours or when you’re evaluating options for your child.
Instead of scrolling through websites or waiting for word-of-mouth reviews, you’ll have key info right at the door.
