Judges praised the creativity, innovation and sustainability of the competition
Organised by Yalla in partnership with Abu Dhabi Mall, The Art of Recycling 2025 competition continues to impress with its remarkable showcase of creativity and environmental consciousness.
This year’s event attracted a large and diverse pool of talented artists who used discarded materials to craft imaginative works of art.
The competition not only highlights artistic innovation but also serves as a powerful reminder that creativity and sustainability can go hand in hand.
Over 240 captivating artworks poured in from young visionaries, each piece a heartfelt expression of peace and imagination.
The creative journey culminated in a celebratory awards ceremony at the vibrant Abu Dhabi Mall, where winners and runners-up were honored in a joyful tribute to artistic brilliance and hope. The event was a dazzling celebration of creativity and the unifying power of art.
Fine Artist Mark Dickens, one of the judges on this year’s panel, expressed his admiration for the quality of the entries.
“This year’s competition continues to amaze, showcasing a vast pool of talent using discarded materials in such creative ways; powerful reminder that creativity and sustainability go hand in hand. It was a great pleasure to be part of the judging panel.”
His comments reflect the high level of skill and originality demonstrated by participants, reinforcing the competition’s reputation as a platform for outstanding recycled art.

Design & Dine owner Gemma Gallagher, another esteemed judge, shared her enthusiasm for the event’s success and the sheer volume of submissions.
“It was a privilege to be a judge in this innovative art competition. Making the decision to select the winners was challenging as the standard across all categories was great.
“It was very inspiring to see such a high number of entries in the competition. The work was so imaginative and a joy to review. Congratulations to all those who entered, and to our winners.”
Her words capture the spirit of celebration that surrounded the event, honouring both the creative process and the artists who took part.
Art educator James Matthews, also part of the judging panel, highlighted the transformative nature of the artworks and their deeper message.
“The winners of the AOR 2025 have all demonstrated highly commendable resourcefulness, inventiveness and creativity; efficaciously reimagining, reworking and manipulating everyday objects into prize winning works of art.”

An awards ceremony took place on 19 June at Abu Dhabi Mall, where all winners were honoured for their creativity and commitment to sustainability.
A total of AED 70,000 in Abu Dhabi Mall vouchers was distributed among the winning artists, adding excitement and recognition to an already inspiring event.
