Mission to Zero Government Challenge launched

Abu dhabi bans single-use plastics

The challenge encourages government entities to reduce usage of single-use products.

Abu Dhabi is quickly becoming one of the most sustainable cities in the world.

And to take things up a notch, the Environment Agency – Abu Dhabi (EAD) has launched “Mission to Zero Government Challenge”.

What’s that you ask?

The Mission to Zero Government Challenge encourages the capital’s government entities to reduce the usage of single-use products.

In order to participate, the entity should report the results of the amount of waste generated. This needs to be done for three months.

At the end of March 2023, calculate the percentage of waste reduction. The entity that records the highest amount of waste reduction receives recognition.

Examples of products that are to be measured in the government entities include plasstic bags, cups and lids, cutlery, plates, stirrers and bottles.

The Mission to Zero Government Challenge aims to promote government organisations to transition away from single-use products as part of EAD’s Single-Use Plastic Policy.
