Falconry season is back in Abu Dhabi: EAD announces the dates for 2024-2025

Get your falcons ready for the ultimate wild hunting adventure in Abu Dhabi

The falconry season in Abu Dhabi kicks off from 20 October 2024 and runs until 20 January 2025.

The Environment Agency – Abu Dhabi (EAD) is gearing up to celebrate the rich tradition of falconry, urging licensed hunters to adhere to local regulations.

Falconers with valid licenses can now hunt the captive-bred Houbara bustard, a bird deeply tied to the region’s heritage.

However, strict guidelines must be followed, including hunting only in designated open areas and staying clear of restricted zones such as roads, protected areas, and residential areas.

To join in this iconic sport, aspiring falconers need to secure their falconry licenses through the ‘TAMM’ system, making sure both falcon and hunter are fully compliant with the latest environmental controls.

Only UAE citizens aged 18 and above can apply, and falcons must be registered with the Ministry of Climate Change and Environment (MOCCAE).

Whether you’re an experienced falconer or looking to start, don’t miss this opportunity to connect with one of the UAE’s oldest traditions!

Ensure your license is in hand and stay within the law to keep this remarkable practice alive and well.
