The Environment Agency – Abu Dhabi earns global recognition for ESG leadership and sustainability excellence
The Environment Agency – Abu Dhabi (EAD) just made history as the first government entity from the capital to win two major accolades at the 2025 Global Good Governance (3G) Awards, and it’s a big deal!
EAD took home the 3G Leadership Award in Sustainability Governance and the 3G ESG Championship Award, solidifying its reputation as a leader in environmental responsibility and clean governance on the world stage.
These wins weren’t just handed out. The agency earned its stripes by consistently pushing for ethical, transparent, and responsible governance, while also leading the charge in sustainable development and climate-conscious policies.
The awards were presented at the 10th annual 3G Awards Ceremony held in Brunei, where EAD was in the spotlight among more than 200 global attendees.

Engineer Salem Al Breiki, Chairman of the Governance Committee and Waste Management Division Director, accepted the awards on behalf of the agency and joined a panel discussion on global environmental and health challenges.
He was accompanied by Ayesha Al Ketbi, Director of the Strategic Planning Office, who also represented EAD at the event.
The 3G Leadership Award celebrates organisations that embody accountability, fairness, and sustainability at every level.
Meanwhile, the 3G ESG Championship Award spotlights those who’ve nailed the integration of Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) values into their daily operations.
EAD impressed the judges with a powerhouse governance framework that includes:
Nine dedicated ESG committees
A restructured Governance Committee (established in 2017, revamped in 2022)
Anti-fraud and conflict-of-interest policies
Multiple ISO certifications
A current push for ISO 37000; the gold standard for organisational governance
Oh, and did we mention they’ve scored a 79.3 per cent governance maturity rating? That’s seriously elite.
From green initiatives to gold-standard policies, EAD continues to walk the talk. With these global honours under its belt, it’s clear: Abu Dhabi’s environmental future is in good hands.
