The initiative also seeks to align global climate education and amplify the work of youth

Plans are ramping up for the forthcoming COP28 conference as President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan met the team overseeing the major global event in Abu Dhabi in November.

The 28th Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP28) will take place in the capital before the end of the year, and His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed this week re-affirmed that sustainability remains at the heart of the UAE’s support for global climate action.

The meeting was attended by members of the National Higher Committee overseeing preparations to host COP28 UAE.

Many important topics were discussed including the fast-tracking of a just and orderly energy transition, fixing climate finance, putting nature, lives, and livelihoods at the centre of climate action and enhancing inclusivity in national climate action.

The hosting of COP28 is a major coup for Abu Dhabi and shows the capital’s growing commitment to build upon its legacy as a global environmental powerhouse.

As part of the Global Climate Education thematic, the 28th Conference of the Parties (COP28) also seeks to align global climate education and amplify the work of youth in the region.
