Runners and obstacle course enthusiasts across the UAE can still sign up to compete in what is widely regarded as the world’s leading endurance challenge as the Abu Dhabi Spartan World Championship arrives in the capital.

Al Wathba, in Abu Dhabi, plays host to the three-day event, which runs from 8 to 10 December, and there are various race options available, including the Open Heats, which provide an opportunity for all, regardless of ability, to take on the Spartan challenge.

Ticket holders will also gain entry to the Sheikh Zayed Festival, a huge celebration of Emirati culture, which takes place on the Friday and Saturday nights.

Will there be anything new this year?

The Spartan World Championship, hosted by Abu Dhabi Sports Council, raises the stakes this year with the introduction of a new 3km obstacle course and the inaugural night race, both of which take place on the opening day.

Will participants receive anything for participating?

Not only competitors but spectators too will enjoy free entry to the Sheikh Zayed Festival, a celebration of Emirati culture featuring live music and entertainment, running across the first two nights of the event.

Are there any free-to-attend training sessions?

While the event may now be less than one month away, there is still plenty of time for competitors to ensure they are in prime shape for when race day arrives courtesy of a training session roadshow spearheaded by Joe De Sena, Spartan CEO and founder.
