The sport’s scene shows no signs of slowing after Eid-Al Fitr says Seth Amoafo

The Sideline: PASS Abu Dhabi’s founder gives you the low down on everything sport in Abu Dhabi.

A very warm (almost) Eid Mubarak to all our readers. We hope you have been able to enjoy some quality time with your loved ones and stayed active during this Holy Month.

The Abu Dhabi community sports scene has continued to thrive and has shown no signs of cooling off during these warmer months. This month, we pinned down Sam Bolger, owner of the new Haraka Gym (formerly Haddins) to find out more about his exciting new project.

So Sam, tell us about the new name.

Our new name is HARAKA which comes from the Arabic word حرمة meaning ‘movement’.

What are we to expect the first time we walk through your doors?

I think this a great opportunity to talk through our three company values.

The community aspect of HARAKA is our greatest strength. We pride ourselves on creating an environment that is positive, welcoming, and enjoyable. It is very important to us that people feel welcome and comfortable from the very first moment that they walk through our doors.

We are committed to strengthening our community and plan to host a number of events throughout the year such as Haraka Iftars and offer activities outside of the gym including beach and desert workouts. Our members also do a fantastic job of welcoming new people to the gym too.

Our second value is empowering lives. We have created HARAKA out of our fundamental desire to empower our members to strive to become the best versions of themselves. As a coaching team through our first-class delivery, we aim to move the needle forward in the right direction as often as we can.

Our third value is delivering excellence. We are dedicated to pursuing the highest standards in our team, our products and in the experience for our community. We have a very passionate team that aims to deliver the best through high quality coaching, education and the environment it creates.

What are the variety of programs on offer?

Our Workout of the Day (WOD) is our staple programme throughout the week with the aim of improving our members’ overall strength and conditioning with a focus on ensuring good movement and progression over time.

We also have an extensive endurance programme that includes swimming, track running, brick sessions, community cycles and our Mystery Endurance class.

How much should we expect to pay for membership? Any special rates or discounts?

We have a number of membership options:

Day Pass – AED 95

1 week – AED 350

1 month – AED 899

3 months – AED 2,399

6 months – AED 4,499

Annual – AED 7,999

The first class is free to try.

Annual (instalments) – AED 749/monthly

Where do we go to find out more?

The best place to find out more is to follow us on Instagram @haraka.uae or to head to our website www.harakauae.com
