Abu Dhabi has gone above and beyond to become one of the most sustainable cities in the world.
And everyone who visits makes sure to do their bit in making the capital greener, including the Abu Dhabi HSBC Championship golfers.
The Championship, which is currently in full swing, headed to the Yas North Beach for a rather green initiative, before teeing off.
On 18 January, a beach clean-up was organised wherein 72 bags of litter were removed. School children, volunteers and even golfers dug their nails into the sand to pick up litter on the beach.

This initiative comes as a part of many others taken up by the Abu Dhabi HSBC Championship which is focused on enhancing the capital’s sustainable development.
In fact, the Abu Dhabi HSBC Championship is also focussed on reducing plastic waste and utilising more reusable materials for the duration of the event.
There will be no plastic takeaway containers and 70 per cent of tournament waste will be diverted from landfill. Over 500sqm of solar power has also been installed on-site to save over 3500 litres of fuel during the tournament.

DP World Tour also announced the Abu Dhabi HSBC Championship and the other four of its Rolex Series tournaments in 2023, will be carbon neutral and adopt a consistent and highly credible approach to carbon reduction and climate mitigation.
