It’s not long now until the drivers are back at the Yas Marina Circuit for the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix 2025
Ready for lights off? The countdown for the ADGP 2025 has officially started, with less than a week to go until it all kicks off on 4 December.
And if you needed any more excuses to get involved in the racing action, this year’s Abu Dhabi Grand Prix is set for a showdown that hasn’t been seen since 2010.
After a season of mostly McLaren wins, pitting Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri against each other, Max Verstappen has swooped in and firmly reentered the race for the title.
Back in the summer, after the Hungarian race, Max Verstappen said he didn’t believe he would win another GP this season with Red Bull. But it didn’t take long for the Dutch driver to say ‘simply lovely’ again.
Fast-forward to Italy, in September, and he was back as number one on the podium – a feat he replicated four times since, including in Qatar last weekend.
This has put him in firmly back in the race for what most already considered to be a McLaren championship. And after the shock disqualification of both Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri at the Las Vegas Grand Prix, and McLaren’s failed tire strategy at the Qatar Grand Prix, the championship will be decided in Abu Dhabi.

This hasn’t happened since 2010, the last time more than two drivers entered the final race with a mathematical shot at the title.
What’s going on beyond the race at the ADGP 2025?
Off the track, this year’s GP is also making waves. With its most ambitious lineup yet, Etihad Park will see eight global artists headline the Yasalam presented by e& programme – including Benson Boone, Post Malone, Elyanna, Metallica, and Katy Perry.
David Powell, Ethara’s Chief Strategy & Business Development Officer, said: “The event has become our region’s Super Bowl. It is the biggest spectacle in the F1 calendar and an entertainment powerhouse, showcasing our ambition at Ethara. From concerts and parties, to fashion and celebrities – the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix is a landmark destination event that delivers unmissable enjoyment for all.”
This year’s race is also making an important step towards a more sustainable future. Single-us plastic bottles and cup will be replaced with sustainable alternatives, and free public water stations will be available for refills.
The massive event will also rely on solar power for a lot of its energy needs, following the solar car park that was launched in 2024.
