Abu Dhabi’s Al Hudayriyat Island becomes the stage for elite and community athletes alike
Abu Dhabi has been chosen as the host city for the opening round of the 2026 World Triathlon Championship Series, setting the stage for elite sport and community engagement in the UAE capital.
The event is scheduled for 28–29 March 2026 and will take place at Al Hudayriyat Island, Abu Dhabi’s dedicated destination for endurance sports, recreation and large‑scale athletic events.

The competition will attract some of the world’s top triathletes and para‑triathletes, who will race in a fast‑paced, high‑performance environment designed to test swimming, cycling and running prowess.
Alongside the elite competition, a programme of community races is planned, inviting participants of all ages and abilities to take on the same course.
This inclusive setup encourages athletes at every level to share the experience and promotes greater participation in the sport across the region.

The March triathlon also serves as a key lead‑in to another major event later in the year: the 2026 World Triathlon Multisport Championships, which Abu Dhabi will host from 13–22 November 2026 at the same location.
